A First for the Timberlakes...

I am totally digging all the lovely vintage deer that are popping up in decor everywhere these days...

However, one that I am not loving is the one that did this...

No one was hurt. Well, unless you include the deer. He was definitely hurt. Permanently. Poor guy. Not sure if I will ever be able to wipe that image from my mind...his eyes staring directly into mine as he rolled over the hood and went into an 180 degree airborne spin. Let's just say it was very scarring for me. But thankfully the girls had no idea what happened. We told Haven later, but she really wasn't that upset about it. (Really? The girl who cried for hours when I threw away the top plastic strip from a shredded cheese bag?!? I don't think I will ever figure her out!)

This was only the second car accident I have been in and the first deer either of us has hit and thankfully, it wasn't serious at all. At first, we thought the car was going to be a total loss. However, after consulting with my Dad and spending an evening digging shards of headlight plastic and deer hair out of the front of the car, Adam thinks that it is just fine. We have been hood and fender shopping online and could have this thing back in functioning order within a couple of weeks. Having a handy husband and a mechanic brother-in-law really ends up saving a ton of money!!

Although I could complain about this happening right at Christmas time, I am honestly thankful that a couple of new body parts for the car is all we are dealing with. Last year, we had to deal with getting a new body part for Adam. And I never want to go through that again. After vegetative bacterias and destroyed heart valves and open heart surgeries and rooms in the ICU, not much is really a big deal anymore. I guess that is one good thing that we can take away from that whole experience!

So lesson learned (again!) - material things are not forever. It's the people in your life that are the most important thing. Always wear your seatbelt. Make good friends with a mechanic. And deer don't always look both ways before crossing dark country roads.

Love your perspective, Kodie! So very true. Oh, and I am soooo glad you escaped unharmed from your run in!
